IC 4592 Blue Horsehead Nebula
IC 4592 is a splendid reflection nebula located about 400 light-years from Earth in the constellation Scorpius. Commonly known as the Blue Horsehead Nebula, it owes its striking appearance and color to fine interstellar dust that preferentially scatters the blue light from nearby massive stars. The nebula is illuminated by the bright star ν Scorpii (Nu Scorpii), a multiple star system located at the “eye” of the horse. My photo is a small RGBHa version.
