Rotten Fish Nebula

Stars are forming in Lynds Dark Nebula (LDN) 1251.
In the constellation Cepheus, about 1,000 light-years away and floating above the plane of our galaxy, the molecular dusty cloud is part of a complex of dark nebulae mapped in the region of the Cepheus flare.
Across the spectrum, dark interstellar clouds reveal energetic shocks and flows associated with newborn stars.
We found several distant background galaxies also lurking in the scene, buried behind the dusty expanse.
A truly impressive dark nebula.
