Southern Skies Quivers

Aloidendron dichotomum or the quiver tree is a tall, branching species of succulent plants, indigenous to Southern Africa and parts of Southern Namibia. The quiver tree gets its English common name from the practice of hollowing out the tubular branches of the tree to form quivers for their arrows. Seen here in the Giants playground near Keetmanshoop in Southern Namibia, with the Carina Nebula, the Coal sack and the southern Cross standing guard over them…..
