NGC 253 is one of the brightest spiral galaxies in the sky. Nicknamed the Silver Coin for its shape from small telescopes, it is more formally known as the Sculptor Galaxy for its location in the Sculptor Constellation. Located at 10 million light-years from us, its diameter is about 70,000 light-years.
