Abell 80 • Planetary Nebula in Lacerta

Another tough one to process, as it was pretty faint. Abell 80 (PK 102.8-05.0) is a planetary nebula located approximately 5,700 light-years away in Lacerta. Like all Abell planetaries, it has a very low surface brightness and is an extremely difficult object for visual observers. Unlike many planetaries in the Abell catalogue, Abell 80 is not a uniform ring, but is distinctly brighter in the eastern and western regions of the nebula.
