Si celebra oggi il 50° anniversario dello storico giorno in cui, per la prima volta nell’umanità, un essere umano mise piede su un corpo celeste diverso dalla Terra: alle ore 20:17 UTC del 20 luglio 1969 il modulo lunare Eagle con a bordo gli astronauti Neil Armstrong e Buzz Aldrin si posò ai margini del Mare della Tranquillità sulla Luna.
Per ricordare l’evento abbiamo scelto questo scatto quale Apod GrAG: una Luna al 53,4% di fase, con evidenza del Mare della Tranquillità e del punto in cui Eagle ha toccato il suolo lunare.
We celebrate today the 50th anniversary of the historic day when, for the first time in mankind’s history, a human being set foot on a celestial body different from the Earth: at 20:17 UTC on July 20th, 1969, the lunar module Eagle, crewed by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, landed at the border of Mare Tranquillitatis on the Moon.
To mark the event, we chose this shot as today’s Apod GrAG: the Moon at 53,4% and the point on Mare Tranquillitatis where Eagle touched the Moon.
