La Nebulosa Gabbiano è una vasta regione al confine tra le costellazioni dell’Unicorno e del Cane Maggiore, appena due gradi distane dalla stella Sirio. Si tratta di una nebulosa a emissione e presenta una forte attività di formazione stellare, circondata a sua volta da diverse nebulose a riflessione di colore tendente al blu. Deve il suo nome alla forma allungata e arcuata alle estremità, con una zona circolare leggermente staccata da essa, rispettivamente le ali e la testa di un gabbiano. Dista dalla Terra poco più di 3.200 anni luce e si estende per circa 330 a.l.; le sue dimensioni apparenti in cielo sono pari a 2° ed è già visibile, sotto cieli particolarmente scuri, con un binocolo o un telescopio di piccolo/medio diametro (> 140mm).

Le stelle sono più marcate in questa versione ma spero non troppo da infastidire chi la guarda. The Seagull Nebula is a wide region at the border between the constellations of Monoceros and Canis Major, just 2° from the star Sirius. It is an emission nebula with a strong activity of star formation, surrounded by various reflection nebulae that have a blueish colour. Its name comes from the long shape with curved extremities and a circular area separated from it, respectively the wings and head of a bird similar to a seagull. It is little more distant than 3,200 light years from the Earth and circa 330 light years wide; its apparent dimension in the sky is 2° and it can be spotted by a powerful binocular or a >140mm telescope.

I made more of an effort to bring out the star colour here whilst keeping a black background outside of the nebula.
